Ford is following in the tire tracks of Uber and Lyft with its latest innovation.

You guessed it: the automaker is producing its own ridesharing app using original software. An algorithm determines the most efficient route for a rider once he or she inputs a destination. A driver already headed in that direction picks him or her up in a Ford Transit van with 6 to 8 other passenger in tow.

Students From Which College Won Ford’s Most Recent Challenge?

With all the recent news of droughts and mandated water conservation, the recent announcement from Ford is timely.

Two students at Clark Atlanta University recently won top honors in Ford Motor Company’s Historically Black Colleges & Universities Community Challenge. The pair created an innovative and responsive lawn watering system.

The system monitors the amount of moisture in the soil and the weather forecast, adding water to the ground only when needed. It can be used either commercially or for private residences.
