Ford is following in the tire tracks of Uber and Lyft with its latest innovation.

You guessed it: the automaker is producing its own ridesharing app using original software. An algorithm determines the most efficient route for a rider once he or she inputs a destination. A driver already headed in that direction picks him or her up in a Ford Transit van with 6 to 8 other passenger in tow.

These vans will include USB ports, WiFi, and plenty of cargo space to ensure passengers are comfortable, no matter the duration of their ride.

This service hasn't officially hit the streets yet -- so, no, you won't be able to request a ride in Colusa, CA. Still, Ford has big plans for this system's future, like potentially decreasing some of the overwhelming damage caused by humanity's ecological footprint.
